If you want to learn how to scrapbook baby – all you need to do is take one long look in his or her eyes and write down the top 5-10 thoughts that come to mind during that time.
Its quite likely that those thoughts will become the TITLE’s of your baby scrapbook pages. And from there you can carry on the message.
Here is my sacred list of the 10 most prominent thoughts that went through my mind when I first met my son:
- Now, I truly know what falling in love is.
- There are no words to describe this moment.
- My life is changed forever.
- You are the best thing to ever happen to me
- You are an angel.
- You are MY angel.
- You are my everything
- You are my heart
- You are my soul
- You are my love!
For each of these overwhelming feelings I could find infinite inspiration for my baby scrapbook pages. Honestly. If you are the new mom – ready to scrapbook baby – then you know exactly what I mean. Each thought, each sense, each feeling when you think of your newborn baby is more profound than any you will ever feel again in your life.
Even 10 years later – you will know these feelings as if they were happening at that moment. They will come back to you with overwhelming warmth and joy. Like a soft, warm blanket – out of the dryer…you will find comfort in these thoughts. You will want to embrace these feelings for as long as possible. You will not want to let go. They are the warmth behind all of your cold days. They can give you light – if there is darkness. They can give you strength when there is frailty. They can give you everything – even when you think you have nothing!
This essence. These feelings. This love. Can and should be carried forward.
Even if you are NOT mom, but you are close to baby or close to mom…that baby must bring enough joy to fill a thousand baby scrapbook pages!
No matter what your connection to baby…your baby scrapbook album should capture you baby makes you feel. If warmth is in your heart (which it is for many) then you should include every color you get warmth from.
Whether this beloved baby is a boy or girl…is of minor consequence. You can find warmth in each color palette.
Baby girl scrapbooks traditionally use soft pinks, whites, purples and sometimes yellows. But what about warm (mid range) pinks, yellows and whites? Pink, yellow, orange and white? Or yellow, purple and white? The warmth is in the shade and tone of the colors you use; as well as the colors. You can even combine your softer shades with warmer shades.
As for baby boys…blues, greens, whites, browns etc. all ring true. But warmth can also be added with reds, yellows and oranges. (Ironically, all the colors of the sun). This can be done with mats, ribbons, trim, borders, rings, buttons, brads and so much more. And just like baby girl scrapbook pages – you can combine your soft traditional baby boy colors with warmer (darker tones) of those same primary colors.
In the end, your baby scrapbook will be as warm as your loving baby is – and will touch your heart and the hearts of others every time you view it.
Its such a rewarding project. You should start that baby scrapbook today! To learn more about how to scrapbook – please consider our scrapbook lessons and tutorials.
