Fathers Day Gift Ideas

It is that time of year again. Or at least it will be very soon. Dad’s day is just around the corner and you need to find a way to show him how much you love him.
As a scrapbooker your natural inclination is to make a scrapbook page or album for dad…and you should. But what do you put in the album? Many Dad’s are elusive. You don’t get to see as many sides or personalities to dad’s as you might mom’s.
Most dad’s would spend every moment on sports (basketball, football, hockey, lacross, soccer, fishing, billiards etc) and food (esp. BBQ’s) and for sometimes even sitting back with a cold beer if they could.
Some dads are all business or religion too.
So how do you do something great for dad that will keep him interested? A scrapbook doesn’t fall into any of these categories. But can it?
Can you make a scrapbook for dad that includes rules of the game for his favorite sports? And make a play on words with some of the primary rules?
Check this site for sports rule guides – (it takes a tad bit of linking through to find the best rules…but they are all “official” in the end).
Can you add photo’s of dad playing this sport? Or using the rules of the game elsewhere in life?
What about adding tickets to his games or news clippings about his games (if there are any). How great would that tribute be? There might be just enough time if you start now.
But what if that seem’s like too much work? Or what if dad doesn’t play sports. Is he the food man instead? Does he love a great BBQ?
If so…why not make him a recipe scrapbook? There are some really amazing BBQ recipe sites on the net that you can snag some hot new ideas from; try these for example:
- http://www.barbecue-smoker-recipes.com/
- http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/collections/barbecue
And what about beer? The BBQ man is quite frequently the beer man too. Why not create a few pages inspired by world beers. (Color’s, themes etc). Or beer recipes: http://www.worldbeerdirectory.com/beer_recipe.php.
Alternatively, if dad is a solid business or religion man – then subject matter in these area’s might be a better choice. It all comes down to what type of business arena he plays in or what his religion is…
No matter what though…YOUR DAD is YOUR DAD! He will always appreciate a tribute FROM YOU! No matter what goes into that tribute.
Just have fun with it…and he will appreciate the effort!
Happy Scrapping!
