    Hey,
I am looking to make a scrap book for a class assignment for a collection of articles and summaries. Any ideas to make it creative?
    Thanks.

      Hi Katherine,

This is a tough one because all of your articles are probably long text, but there is nothing wrong with creating pocket or fold over pages and storing the complete articles inside / under the visual references you might add. As for visual elements, I would definitely make each TITLE on page – the same as the TITLE of the article. Then I would add photo’s, illustrations, sketches, or memorabilia to match as well. In many creative ways you can direct the viewers to the article(s) too. You can do this with big chunky arrows (saying pull this or open this to view article etc), ribbon ties, paper clips, buttons, hinges or anything similar. I would definitely recommend smash book style for this whole project. Hope this helps.

Hey I’m making a scrapbook for my music teacher as a gift at graduation. I am going to add pictures from during the year and I’m gonna add them. But I can’t think of a unique design to use that entombed music. Please help :D

    • Cijaye says:

      Hi Kristen,

You are in LUCK here as not only do I run this scrapbooking website but I used to be in the music industry as well. I have a couple of suggestions…

First one would be to design your background(s) like a staff sheet (and include the hook of one of your most practices class songs in notations)…but zoomed it all in across as manage pages as you need to(ie: large spaces between the lines) and either shape the pictures into the rounds of your music notes…or the upper/lower bars (if possible)…

As an alternative, you could also design a cd or even old school LP sized accordian booklet that you scrap the photo’s onto. (Of course each new page of the accordian will be a new page for the photo(s)).

Another option is to draw, paint or sketch the primary shape of a key instrument onto a vintage distressed background paper and then select creative areas within those shapes to put your photo’s and text.

      Hope this helps.

I have several old photos that are family group shots. Does anyone have any ideas for page layouts where I can display the photo and name everyone in it in an eyecathcing way.

    Thanks

    D.

    • Cijaye says:

      Hi Diane,

Grid styles work very well for large group pages. Small name tags on each photo also work well for titling. The background could then include memorable phrases or qualities in scattered word format — or you can get really creative and use pull tabs. Each tab can then relate to certain segments of the family – - ie: aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, parents etc.

Another fun one is a colorwheel type of format – which is quite a bit more complicated and time consuming but there is a spinning wheel under cover, which then reveals a photo and corresponding story when lined up with the peekaboo within the cover. The photo’s in this case are trimmed to a pie size – as are the stories that accompany, but it’s a great way to do a lot with a little bit of space.

hi. i’m making a scrapbook for my mom and i don’t no what to put on it … have any ideas?

    • Cijaye says:

      Hi Emily,

As we grow older and our mom’s grow older – a lot of us find that there is so much more we wish we could say to our mom’s that we never said as children. Or that we simply don’t say enough. Loving sentiments are especially included in this category. You could make each page a devotion to a sentiment you want to share with your mom. You could also have fun with it and go A-Z if you like. Or 10 important notes to mome (ie: 10 pages) etc. followed by the 10 most important sentiments you have to share.

Those sentiments would then be the page titles, that could then be accompanied by poems, famous quotes, and images that match.

Another great scrapbook for mom is a “I remember when” scrapbook. This then becomes a very descriptive scrapbook dedicated to all of the memories you have top of mind. Some could be very sentimental and others could be humorous. Perhaps a mixture of them all would work too?

      Hope these ideas helped.

    Hello
I’m just getting in to the cuttlebug AND
I Need someplace to store the folders and
    dies ??Thank You
    Linda

    • Cijaye says:

      Hi Linda,

Because the CuttleBug is so versatile and can accept other embossing plates/dies from other manufacturers I have a sufficiently sized (ie: 10 x 14″) storage box (from IKEA; called Kassett) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70180390 that I store my dies/envelopes in. It’s high enough that I can stand them up if needed and I have created custom recipe card tabs to separate and catalog each type of die/plate. (I do put the die’s in ziplocks though as they are much smaller than the plates).

*I can also store the acrylics when not in use here as well.

If you are just getting started, you may need a weight to keep the dies/plates upright until the box gets full…(i used to use a painted rock from my daughter).

      Hope this helps.

I have about 250 pictures from an annual Corn Roast/Horseshoe Tournament Part that we have. After 10 years we have called it quits. I would like to put these pictures in a traditional album, but would like to have the pages all the same for the different events except for what pictures will be on the pages. There would be the following categories:

    Horseshoe Tournament
    Washshoe Touranment
Hitting Golf Ball over the River
    Morning Breakfast

What would you suggest. I have looked at lots of different ideas but just can’t seem to find something that I like.

Thank you for all your help.
    Norma

    • Cijaye says:

      Hi Norma,

Thank you for asking for input. The first idea that comes to mind for your tournament scrapbook album is to differentiate with color. For example each category gets its own colors. I might also suggest differentiating with special embellishments/accents. The horseshoe scrapbook pages might look really cool with silver elements throughout (considering horseshoes are silver) – - or sand if your folks are tossing the horseshoes into sand. For the golf ball over the river ones…you might want to use embossed papers (that resemble the dents in a golf ball)….or water like accents (like rhinestones, glass/clear beads, glossy accents etc). And the breakfast pages — well that goes without saying…food accents would be great. There are food stickers galore in pretty much any craft store you can find. But you may also be interested in food patterned papers.

Just some food for though… ;) Good luck with your pages. I would love to see some finished photos of them!

      • Norma Doonan says:

Thank you for your input. It sounds great and I will play around with your ideas. Best I have heard yet. I like the idea of separating each event with the different colors (which I was going to do ) but how you explained how “to do it” is what makes it great. It is a big project but will definitely let you know when it is completed.
        Thanks Again Cijaye

Hi. I need to make a scrapbook for my International Business class. Basically we have to collect 5 atricles and relate them back to different strands that we learned throughout the year. I want it to be creative, but at the same time professional. Can someone give me some ideas to start off with? Thanks :)

    • Cijaye says:

In this case Lily, I would recommend creating a thin 8.5″ x 11″ album – possibly with 2 page layouts in mind. One the left page I would add the article with some extra features in/around it (such as creative highlights, glossy accents, special arrows etc), then on the right hand pages I would add the reference sources and either stitch or strategically adhere the lines from sections of the articles to the reference sources…

You could also use mini envelopes on the right hand side to store snippets of the articles – as if they were in special reference folders in a file cabinet.

Anyhow…I am not sure if that makes sense without a visual to show – but I am sure you can create your own adaptation of how you interpret this and it will turn out perfectly!

      Good luck!
